Crissy was
one of our original mothers and has off spring raising puppies still.
What an excellent mother she was.

Sterling is our older experienced mother.

There is a lot of care given to the mothers also so that
they stay healthy and don't get to exhausted. Another good reason
for supervised feedings. We treat them a lot like a new born child
and mother. |
The new arrivals, Mother and
babies are doing great!
**It is crucial to the survival of the puppies to supervise
their time with their mothers. - No the mothers will not intentionaly
harm them.- It is because the English Bulldog has such tough
skin and they cannot feel the puppies around them so there is a
chance of the puppies being laid on which would sufficate them.
Also it is crutial that they are kept in a draft free warm room.
Often the puppies are in an incubator and brought out every 3-4
hours for feeding time. |
Puppies at 2 weeks old

|
2 weeks old
Usually within the second week the puppies open their eyes. It is
important not to expose them to harsh sunlight. Much like a child
they are not able to see much at this age. At the two week age they
spend more time out of the incubator and with their mother. It is
important to keep them warm so we have blankets and puppy beds for
them to sleep on.
*A year of a dogs life is compared to 6 of our human years. |

|
3 weeks old
As the puppy grows, their legs get stronger and soon they will be
walking or waddeling.
*Supervision with all children at this age. A puppies little
bones are developing and getting stronger every day - Soon they
will be old enough to play with. Puppies at this age are starting
to show signs of interacting with us, they will often bark or make
eye contact. Their hearing and sight is still limited but they do
smell us and are learning to bond with our touches. |

4 weeks old
At this stage the puppies are very active on their feet.
They have developed little teeth which are quite sharp.
The mother generally is ready to leave the room when she is finished
nursing them.
They are started on soft foods.
We use Science Diet Puppy food in a can mixed with warm
water. Gradually we add crunched up dry food to the mix so that
it is not quite so messy and they tend to stay dryer. So this decreases
the chances of them catching a cold. |

We see the biggest changes during the 4 to 6 weeks in our
puppies. They are starting to be more independent.

|
5 weeks old
Little English Bulldog puppies are very cute at this stage. They
are getting chubby and wrinkles are starting to show.
They are starting to explore different areas of their territory.
We introduce them to papers or other areas to play in.
Normally when a puppy is moved to one place they will go potty.
So by picking them up when they start to go and placing them on
a potty pad or newspaper starts them on the right track. At this
age is it important to keep an eye on their puppy play. They are
starting to play more and if they are not introduced to appropriate
toys they will tend to start picking on each other. |

6 weeks old - It is time to get ready to
leave Mama. What a hard thing to do - but we must wean the little
bulldogs from their Mama.
We have started the process when the puppies started to
eat soft foods. Nursing time is cut back to once a day at this time
and by the end of the week they will not need their mothers milk.
This is harder on Us then Mama. We all have to learn to
let go...So that you will have the independent little angel you
deserve!
A lot goes on at this time of your puppies life. Remember
they are going to be 8 - 12 weeks old when you receive them and
this is compariable to a 2-3 year old child!
At this age they are very much influenced by our actions.
We strive to give your puppy the attention and training and instruct
you about this so that you can take over where we left off. |

Angel is exploring Mama's crate. |
At 7 weeks old, we are in the process of getting
the puppies used to being seperated.
First this starts with getting them familiar with a crate or indoor
kennel where we house our mothers in the house..
They have been paper training since 5 weeks old and are pretty
good about going potty in the paper area so now it is time to teach
them to hold it while they are in their crate for an hour or two. |
 |
8 weeks old,
At this age we are exploring new areas with your puppy. Up until
now our puppies are kept indoors. Depending on the time of year,
we introduce the puppies to the outdoors. With short 5 to 10 minute
outdoor outings right after feeding time.
Puppies are socialized with both our family and other adult doggies. This
makes it much easier for your puppy to adapt to your surroundings.

 |
9 weeks old,
this is the time when we usually have to let go - We find that it
is best to place our puppies in homes around 8 to 12 weeks. Because
this is a crutial bonding time for them and their new family.
Consider a 2 - 3 month old puppy is the age of a toddler. Very
curious and very impressionable.

Here is Lucy our newly adopted addition to our family!
She came home with us when Crissy's puppies were born.
She is a joy to have with us at this time when Crissy's babies
are growing and hopefully we won't have such a hard time giving
up the puppies since we will have Lucy to raise! |
